Ahh, fillers!
I always knew this ep. would be a filler, but I hoped it might do a little more to advance the plot. And I am disappointed the stories didn't get to connect in that loose "20 shorts about springfield" (or whatever) way where a fly buzzes around Toph and she waves it off and flies away to buzz around Zuko...
That said, 'twas all right.
Toph/Katara: Very sweet. Loved getting to see the boys shave and Toph's hair. Cute, good stuff. (Though, seriously, the make-up?) But, yay, for spot-on Toph characterization!
Iroh: Tear. We get to see Lu Ten squee! But tear. And Mako! Tear.
Aang: Most boring of them all. ...I don't really have much to say...
Sokka: Haiku-off ftw! Good stuff! And is it just me, or was he almost rapping there at the end? First he represents, now he raps. Sokka is so gangsta! (Word.)
Zuko: Awww, Zuko's normal! And Jin's adorable! And Zuko's normal! And he lit the lights for her!** And he's normal! The boy has certainly come a long way! (He's normal!) His "It was nice" was freaking adorable! And, haHA! Take that anti-Zutarians who say he acts OOC in our fics! He can be nice/have a "romantic"/sweet side! God, he was just so freaking cute. (Note: I am not nor have I ever been a Zuko fangirl, so said declaration of cuteness is made in the most impartial way!) All he needs now is to hang out with the Gaang for a while so he can start sharing some moments w/ the waterbender! **dreams** Seriously, if Katara can get herself thrown into prison for Haru, Zuko can certainly light some laterns for Jin...
(Is it weird that Zuko's date has actually made me feel hopeful for Zutara? ...Oh, this is bad. I do so try to keep my hope down... Damn you, your awkwardly romantic innocence will lead me to ruin! ...XD)
**Note: I do take issue with him lighting the torches for her if only b/c it was only two episodes ago that he was spazzing at Iroh for heating his tea. WTF, Zuko? WTF? (Poor Jet, if only he had been patient...) That is to say, I get what they were trying to convey, and appreciate that, but... :\ The presentation was just off...or something? (...And I suppose that his going from "SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND ROAR! I SLAM MY FIST ON THE TABLE FOR EMPHASIS!!!!1one" to "Don't worry, baby, I'll light your fire..." was a bit rushed/random.)
Momo: Moppa is soo cannon! hehe! Seriously, though, I think the Momo's part might have been my favorite...and it did kinda add to the main plot. But, aww, Momo and Appa's fur... S/he tied it around her/his wrist, and that is just cute. The animals must stick together in this world of crazies!
Now to wait for the 13th! (Actaully, I'm looking more forward to the episode after the next as it's then, I think, that the story will start to take off... Not that I don't care about finding out what Appa's been up to, but... I dunno, I'm anxious to keep the Ba Sing Se plot going...)
