TEAM EIGHT!!!!!!!! HELL YEAH! FOR THE WIN! Team 8!
All right, this arc is shaping up to be one hell of an arc, and seeing everyone in those damn rain cloaks has gotten me so psyched for the upcoming chapters I fear my hopes may have risen too high.
That said, we have:
Team 8, led by Kakashi, and forming ONE unit with Team 7, led by Yamato, searching for Itachi.
This means:
Potential to see new moves/developement from team 8.
Potential for nicknames from Sai (Dear God, Please!)
Potential for Naruhina developement (crosses fingers...what?)
Potential to see Sai in action
Potential for humorous Sai-Shino interaction; ditto for Sai-Kiba and Sai-Hinata
Team Hebi, searching for Itachi.
This means:
Potential for Team 7 reunion (most likely inevitable, but you never know, right?)
Naruto-Sasuke (to fight, or not to fight, that is the question; I've always imagined they might fight, then Itachi shows up, and since they've weakened each other, Itachi wins and runs off with Naruto, leading to a rescue!Naruto arc with Sasuke and Sakura working together this time for Naruto...and maybe some Hinata b/c I said so. ...Not really sure if I actually see or want this to happen(ing), though...)
Sakura-Sasuke (definative answer as to Sakura's feelings; awed expression and Sai punching not withstanding)
Kakashi-Sasuke (reactions? lectures? explanation for Kakashi's m.sharingan?)
Potential for Sai-Suigetsu (sp?) meeting, especially if the brothers theory is correct
Potential for Karin-Sakura smack down (I've been really hoping Karin's fangirling is related to some sort of ulterior motive relating to Orochimaru and his "resurrection"; Suigetsu's comment about her doing something to Sasuke makes me hopeful; either way she's just screaming sasusaku plot-device, but at least her role would be a little more complex, right?)
Deidara and Tobi, off to cause trouble.
This means:
Potential for Tobi and Kakashi to meet, confirming or torpedoing the Tobi=Obito theory; personally, I hope he is b/c that means more Kakashi expostion and the possibility of an explanation as to what happened to Rin.
Potential for kyuubi!Naruto discussion/revelation
Itachi and Kisame, targeted.
Potential for...fights...and confrontations of various sorts!
And there's probably a lot I forgot to mention, and who knows what the results of any of these potentialities will be? But it seems like there's room for a lot to happen. And I think this is what Naruto needs. Back in part one, it seemed like in each arc there were always multiple story lines going, woven together in one nice package (well, at least during the chuunin exams...). But since part two began, the plot has been largely linear and focused on one conflict at a time, which has led to complaints of boring-ness, ect. But I feel like this arc is begining to hit it's stride, and I'm hopeful for good things to come!
