Yeah, yeah it had it's issues, but I still liked it a lot! Definately better than the second!
First, I've never been a huge Orlando Bloom fan, but damn. He looked hot as a pirate/captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Speaking of which, I love how know one really seems upset that he's now fated to spend his eternity as such, and only gets to see 'Lizbeth once every ten years. Also, implied sex scene...kinda weirded me out for some reason, but hey! I guess it was necessary for the flash forward after the credits. (Elizabeth aged pretty well, no?)
I really do see what some of the reveiwers were talking about in relation to them seeming to make things up as the went along. Because, really, some of it makes no sense if you think about how things started. I love how Barbarosa was such a "good guy" throughout the entire movie. He was the only character without a hidden agenda.
Tear for Elizabeth's father.
Tear for Norrington. I personally prefered scruffy Norrington (sp?), but my heart went out to the guy. (Now if ever there was a character with crazy character development...) At least he got a kiss. (Elizabeth gives those out pretty freely, doesn't she?) Although his death was pretty random and pointless, though I guess it showed how messed up Mr. Turner Sr. had become. (Poor Norrington gets shanked by the father of the jerk who stole his girl...not that Elizabeth was ever necessarily his, but the point is still valid!)
I don't think I even need to comment on Johnny Depp or Jack Sparrow. The awesomeness and hilarity is understood. (Although the scene with his father was a bit too hyped. I was a tad disappointed in it to tell the truth...)
I enjoyed getting to see all the foriegn pirates. (Though I wonder where they went during the big fight with the Dutchman/Calypso's storm.)
I was ready to walk out of the theater of Elizabeth actually turned out to be Calypso. Because, seriously. That would have been lame. The voodoo lady, however, is acceptable. (I so called she was Davy Jone's lost love back in movie two! Go me!)
...And that is pretty much it. I enjoyed myself, which is all I asked of it!
