Naruto
OTP:
Shikamaru/Temari: Y’know, for my OTP, I really don’t have much to say about it, aside from the fact that I love it! The characters, their dynamic, the canon moments they’ve shared...all of it! Since Shikamaru’s introduction I was just waiting to ship him with a “troublesome” woman. And Ino just wasn’t satisfying. Then there came Temari and their fight—and it all just clicked. Everything in the “Rescue Sasuke” Arc just cemented my affection for them. I guess I like my pairings with a slightly ironic flair?
Ships I love:
Naruto/Hinata: I was tempted to make this my OTP but...I got into Shikatema first. That’s not say I didn’t always ship Naruhina. I did. I was an anime first person, and from the first episode I shipped them. There was something very endearing about Hinata’s crush and silent support of Naruto. Plus, it was cute. And then as the story developed and they began to interact, I came to see how well they really did mesh—how each brought something to the table the other lacked. And how they really did impact one another. Each has positively influenced the other in some form or another. And I dunno...I like the idea of Hinata being a calm presence to which Naruto could come home—and Naruto being a fun world into which Hinata could step out...or something like that. I guess I’m probably not making much sense. Regardless, Hinata’s confession was a thing of beauty in terms not only of art but also character and plot. Amazing. Can’t wait to see they resolution to their story!
Sasuke/Sakura: Yes, this ship has its issues, but I really did love the Sasusaku of part one. And Sakura’s confession was so heart wrenching...I can’t help but ship it! And, really, they did positively influence one another in part one. Part two...has its issues... But I have always enjoyed Sakura’s resolve... If Sasuke can ever be redeemed and end this nonsense then I think my love for this ship will be justified. And even if its not, it was worth it for the angst.
Ships I Enjoy: (aka TOO MANY!)
Shikamaru/Ino: It amuses me.
Ino/Choji: It’d be sweet.
Ino/Sai: Again, amusing.
Lee/Sakura: Again, sweet.
Lee/Ten-ten: They’d have amazing kung-fu babies.
Ten-Ten/Neji: Anime fillers have revealed its true romantic potential.
Kakashi/Rin: Possibilities for Angstx9000.
Kakshi/Anko: It’d be hot.
Anko/Iruka: I think it has the potential for hilarity.
Iruka/Kakshi: I must admit it has a certain appeal.
Anko/Anyone: Anko is just that hot.
Tsundae/Dan: Tragic but sweet.
Iruka/Shizune: I think they could probably relate well.
Karin/Suigetsu: Hilariously awesome. Love the love/hate.
Hanabi/Konohomaru: They’d be cute. Period.
Kurenai/Asuma: Again, so tragic. Love how understated it was for the majority of the series.
Shino/Ino: Again, the fillers got me.
Ships to Which I am Indifferent:
Kushina/Minato: It’s sweet but I can’t say I care.
Sasuke/Naruto: There’s no denying the only thing keeping this from being canon is the bias against homosexuality that exists throughout media which aims primarily at an audience is children. Meh.
Insert all others here.
Ships I do not Enjoy:
Tsunade/Jiriya: Love the friendship. Can’t dig the romance. Too dismissive of Tsu/Dan.
Naruto/Sakura: Before 469, this would have been indifferent. I really didn’t mind it at the beginning of Part One and even found it cute—and thought it possible. As Part One went on, though, I thought it became less likely and found I enjoyed their friendship much more than I could a romance between them. Part Two furthered my affection for their friendship, which I think romance would ruin. That said, I still would have been able to live with it. However, after 469, IF Kishi decides to make Narusaku canon, I must object. There is NO WAY he can salvage narusaku. At least, not for me. (Not to mention what Narusaku does to the Team 7 bond.)
