crienselt: (Song of Nephilim)

01 a prelude to the tragedy: A pretty song with a very apt title.

02 fallout: Secret mission-y. I like the faint flicker of the voice.

03 we've got to believe in something: Sounds partially hopeful, partially like some shit is about to hit the fan. I kind of get a "race to stop the bad guys" vibe.

04 a dark omen: Again, title's apt. Not too much else to say.

05 forgotten sanctuary: So beautiful. So enchantingly melancholy.

06 creeping into: Welcome to what seems to be generic dungeon music. Still pretty, though.

07 the battle of your soul: Battle tune. Seems about right.

08 rolling down the UMN: Ah, the famed elevator music. It's all right--nice and jazzy--but I don't know if I would have selected to put it on the cd over the awesomeness that is that Abel's Ark theme.

09 in a limestone cave: More dungeon music? Still very pretty and appropriate, I think.

10 inferno: Something bad's happening? Boss battle? A tense song.

11 on our ways: Feels like more dungeon crawling. Pretty, as per usual. I really like the layering on this song for some reason.

12 a new world: Very pretty; feels bitter-sweet.

13 T-elos: This robot's bad ass. Again, I love the jingly-clicky things. Not castanets, but some kind of similar finger-bell-things...I think. And, oooo, the sort of Arabic sounding vocal is a nice touch.

14 the Miltia incidents: Love for the Song of Nephilim that's interspersed. I really hope the new sections mean something/are in Latin and not Kajiura-speak.

15 Febronia: Pretty, sad. Woodwinds ftw! Fitting for the character.

16 promised pain: Trailer music! Yee! I'm a fan. I read somewhere that this might go with the final boss battle, which I could live with. (And, when I imagine it as the final boss music, I can't help but get a little jazzed up! XD) As, per usual, I really wish the words here meant something. Or at least some of them.

17 mother, I miss you: This makes me sad, which I suppose is the desired effect.

18 fate: Hi, um, I'm Episode II and I want my music back. Still, a good tune.

19 Zarathustra dangeon: I really love the beginning of this song and the drums that carry on throughout. More dungeon music? I also enjoy the bells/shaker-thing.

20 shifting territories: I'm a fan of the lower, repeating stings.

21 hepatica#2: All of the hepaticas are lovely, and this is no exception

22 the harsh truth: Sad and pretty (I keep saying that, but, well...almost all of them are just that: sad and pretty) I do enjoy the way the piano carries the melody, though, and the way the strings flesh it out.

23 to the last place: I like the way the slightly military style of the drums is matched with the church bells. Ah, Xeno...
---

01 hepatica (Kos-Mos): So beautiful it hurts. It's perfect a theme for KOS-MOS, and (for once) the lyrics mean something! Joy!

02 battleland: Appropriately tense and adrenaline pumping battle theme.

03 a memory of a tragedy: I need to listen to this together with "a prelude..." to figure out how exactly they are different. Maybe this is more mellow/softer? Still, nice song.

04 testament: I love this song, complete with chanting. (I've thing for chanting.) It seems the perfect theme for the testaments. (And is that a harpsichord? Yee!)

05 survive: For some reason I thought this song would be more intense. Instead it feels more like it's building to something intense. I wonder if it's a battle theme or where it fits. I like it, though. And I also enjoy how it harks back to "promised pain."

06 T-elos#2: She's back and even more bad ass than she was before.

07 she's coming back: More trailer music! Why do I picture KOS-MOS totally owning T-elos?

08 when the grief lets you go: Another sad and pretty song. It's soothing too.

09 godsibb: Even more trailer music! I like it. I like it a lot.

10 Febronia#2: Gah; it makes me tear up. I really like the beat of this one. It makes me think of a wedding or something. It also has a bit of an 19th century vibe to it that I enjoy.

11 crisis coming: Gah! It's coming! The crisis! ... A bit of the US trailer music; neat. Very nice. There's even a bit in it that reminds me of one of the Mitsuda's Xeno I songs. And that's always good.

12 a new world#2: Again, I'm not sure how this really differs from the 1st song by this name. I guess it just wasn't memorable enough for me to make strong note of its layers and melodies. It still is pretty, though.

13 outrageous: For some reason I feel like kicking ass. Reminiscent of the 80s to me. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I do like the song.

14 when the grief lets you go #2: As pretty and sad and soothing as the other one.

15 I love you, sincerely: As I said before, this makes me hopeful for poor Allen. It is a sweet song.

16 hepatica#3~I believe in you: Tear. Bitter-sweetness up to wazoo. I can't help but picture chaos and KOS-MOS transcending into this or that to save mankind or something. The drum and bells are love. The strings are love. This is just a piece of pure, unadulterated beauty.

17 maybe tomorrow~ending medley: More bitter-sweetness! And more tears! The theme song is all right. I'm never a real big fan of any RPG theme songs, though, so it's no surprise I'm kinda meh. I expect meh-ness, and this lives up to it. The bit of "Sweet Song" in it make me doubly sad b/c it makes me realize this it. This is the end. This plays during the credits. Mourn! Oh, and also, I like the random bit of chanting.

Edit: Having listen to the soundtracks for the first to games, I've come to the conclusion that this is my least favorite. (The 1st being 1st; the 2nd being 2nd.) Though, I've a feeling this might change after actually playing Episode 3. It's just I remember more tracks from the 1st than I do the 2nd or third, which I suppose means I do prefer Mitsuda to Kajiura. The music is still awesome, though.
