The first time I took this thing, I got a spider. A SPIDER! A horrible, horrible, freaky as hell eight legged thing! How upsetting is that? I don't think my daemon would really do that to me. How horrible would it be, though, to be petrified of whatever form your daemon did take...hypothetically speaking...

At any rate, I refused to accept that my soul would manifest itself in the form of a spider, so I took it (several more times) and first got an occelot named Orin and then this guy. I dunno. I kinda like the crow. My sister is terrified of them, but I think they're kinda pretty in a bleak sort of way. There's a certain forlorn mystery to them that I find appealing...

This has me feeling guardedly optimistic. Becuase, okay, Nintendo is obviously making a move to get some rpgs, and what's Monolith's flagship rpg? Hell, I'd be happy with a xeno fighting game. (HEY! If Nintendo does have the rights to Xenosaga, does that mean they could throw Allen KOS-MOS into a super smash brothers game? I wonder...) But what's this 16% Namco has? I don't know enough about econmic-business-y stuff to have any clue what the division means aside from the fact that Nintendo got most of it. Like are they share holders now and Nintendo has the most so it can boss Monolith around? Or...is it something else?

I'd love it, though if Xenosaga came to Wii. I actually plan on buying one of those (just as soon as I finally finish Final Fantasy XII, so I can go back and beat Baiten Kaitos II--hey!--and then move on to Twilight Princess, which I cannot believe I've yet to play. I suck as a nerdy, video game fangirl; I really, really do...); ps3 is too expensive and over done. At any rate, if Nintendo bought the rights to Xenosaga, I can't imagine they wouldn't use them for something. And if Bamco still has them, doesn't that mean they still intend to use them? **ignores the Square Soft incident w/ Xenogears which prompted Monolith's foundation in the first place** Also, since Xenosaga was Takahashi's (I spelled that wrong, didn't I?) baby, and I imagine he still has some say, wouldn't he make a deal that would allow him to do something with it? Maybe? Is my logic totally nonsensical? ...Well, I don't care it if is! I'm taking this as a good sign!

EDIT: Just had a thought: Xenocard DS! Yah with me? **actually never really got a hand of Xenocard but like the idea of it anyway**

EDIT 2: Heh, I just had vision of Super Xeno Brothers; chaos is Mario; Wilhelm is Luigi. KOS-MOS is Princess Peach! (T-elos for Daisy?) And that makes Shion Toad. Yoshi can be Allen or Ziggy, maybe... Or Margulis. No! He should be Bowser. ...And now I'm actually starting to think way too much about this... (Sometimes, though, I really wish I could draw!)

Sigh. Why does Kingdom Hearts have to do this to me?

I played the first game, and while I was interested in the overall story of the game and wanted to see everyone nice and safe and back where they belonged, the endless tedium that was the Disney worlds (after the initial nostalgia wore off) kept me from really caring that much about playing it or enjoying the game to the extent of anticipating a sequel. Then they stuck that "Another Side, Another Story" vid onto the end. And I was intrigued. Then they bust out Deep Dive, and I suddenly really, really wanted the next game. I mean, it's people in cloaks and rain and mysterious phrases and is that Riku? And OMG! Mickey! By the time the second game actually came around, I was so into it, I'd was even avoiding "spoiling" the new character designs. (Seriously, what was wrong with me?)

And then I played the game...and once more those damn Disney worlds that have nothing to do with anything yet take hours and hours of time to pass killed my enthusiasm. And then there was the disappointment at said cloaked figures getting almost no developement. Still, the ending was awesome and the secret ending even more so. (Knights! And Fields of Keyblades! Ooo!) But, no, I was going to stay strong and not care and just find out what happens after the game was released. ...And then the second Final Mix roles around and we get this new video and...and...and gah! It looks so good! Must. play. now.

And I know I'm just going to wind up being every bit as disappointed with KH3/whatever as I was with 2. (And odds are 3 won't even have playable Riku--squee--to make up for it.) But dammit, they've hooked me again!

The footage for The Golden Compass=awesomeness. For some reason the shots of Lyra clubbing the guy with the gun and smashing shit just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And the shot of Iorek running through town, and of Lyra walking into the dinning hall, and Lee! God I love Lee Scorsby! (Did I mispell his name? It looks wrong. Better question: did I mispell "mis(s)pell"?) I must say I'm actually really pleased with the way the movie seems to be coming out. Everything just looks amazing!

Also, now Pullman's saying the Books of Dust will be about Lyra? What happened to Lee? Not that I really mind. I think I'll like reading about adult Lyra. (Here's hoping Will will be in it too! *crosses fingers*)

Nooooooo!

Saw Children of Men last night, and it was very, very good and very, very intense. Unexpected things happened and the movie did a good job of keeping up the tension. There was this one shot at the end that went on forever and with which I am totally in love. I don't know what the record is for the longest continuous shot in a movie (and I'm sure there are crazy long ones out there) but this one definitely has to at least rank as being one of the more complicated. It was violent without being overly gory, and overall I thought everything was handled/done in a fairly realistic way.

I really liked the characterization in the film. I liked that no one was good or evil (unlike V for Vendetta). I liked that Kee was just a normal girl. “Spoiler” ) I liked that the movie's point of view was limited to Theo and what he knew (save for that bit at the end). And I liked the resistance movement was just as bad as the government. (I also liked the fact that there was a kick-ass gypsy. Hurray for the Roma!)

Also, the movie had a really good soundtrack/was mixed really well. I loved the effect of the ringing from the explosion, and the songs did a really good job of involving you in the scenes.

And, y’know, it never really occurred to me how truly terrifying the idea of not being able to procreate is (and that is definitely something we all take for granted) and what the world would be like without children. Until it was addressed in the film, it never even occurred to me that there would be no schools.

I've a question, though, are we meant to believe that world is a total hell because of the lack of children, did it just happen as a natural progression of things, or did the world's fall to chaos lead in someway to our infertility? (I think we needed to know more about the Human Project. Or maybe I missed something...)

So, let me get this straight: this entire past arc of House was pointless? That's...annoying...

In unrelated news, had a spare couple million just laying around, I would so totally buy this.

Watching the Cowboys-Seahawks game b/c the bro-in-law made me join his fantasy football league, (I have no idea who I even picked or why...I plan to win through ignorance and irony.) and I am required by law to support the Cowboys (again as per said bro-in-law).

Me: Watch them miss the field goal now after they've made all those like...far away...ones...

Dad: No, he'll make it. It's an automatic. It's practically like kicking an extra point. They never miss those.

Me: The Cowboys will. Something will happen. Just wait.

...Me=apparently psychic; bro-in-law=in tears; dad=bemused and in debt to me one dollar (big risk takers, my family.)

lol, Romo, just...lol--and wow. Can't blame Carrie Underwood this time.

(Think I'll make the bro-in-law some cupcakes tomorrow.)

Talladega Nights: It was about what I expected it to be. The bit at the dinner table did amuse. Far from being the best of Will Ferrell, though.

Superman Returns: Okay, I'd never seen a Superman movie before, (although I DID watch Smallville when I was younger) so I had to rely largely on pop culture knowledge for the back-story, which may be why I didn't "get" certain things. For example: Lois and Superman. I don't get their relationship. So they love each other, but who what when how? I assume this is addressed in the previous movies/comics/whatever, but as it stood for me, I couldn't see the connection and their interactions just seemed...I dunno...odd...? That is, I don't get what Superman sees, and it was as if Lois was nursing an infatuation. It's like they have this connection but don't KNOW each other and can't know each other because the second he puts on glasses Clark becomes a hapless geek who lacks confidence and whom she ignores. And really, Clark does bemuse me b/c Spoiler! ) That said, I actually thought it was pretty good. And even though I have no clue what I'm talking about, I kinda think Kevin Spacey made a good Lex Luthor. So...yeah.

Night at the Museum: It was cute. A good little family movie. And now I'm going to have to listen to my brother-in-law make "gum-gum" jokes for the next couple of months or until something else comes along...

Eragon: I haven't read the books and had no interest in seeing it, but my friend wanted to go, so whatever. I tagged along. My verdict: Meh. I liked the dragon. (It was so cute when it was little; I wanted one!) I liked the token old guy. (But then again, it's Jeremy Irons. What's not to love?) And there was something else I liked that I don't remember now. (Must not have been too important.) Now, I suppose it's possible that the book was better, but...meh. There was like no character development. And I didn't like the girl. And I don't get what her connection is to Eragon. (Wow, I just typed Aragon and then had to delete it. Wonder what that means.) Aside from the obvious love cliché. And who was that random guy who was following him around and then suddenly became his buddy? He seemed like maybe he could have been interesting. Maybe. If given some time. Though I can’t say I would have wanted the movie to be any longer than it was...
