The Avatar's Fangirls
Oct. 13th, 2006 10:05 pmAnd I totally would have missed that pun had Ty Lee not pointed it out...
Is it bad that I enjoyed this episode more than the last? Like A LOT more? Like I really kind of loved this episode and the last one not so much? It succeeded at providing a wider glimpse of the Avatar world where Tales failed. (Ironically, I'd been looking forward to ToBS, thinking it would do just that, and had little interest in the adventures of Appa...)
And what is up with Nick and the lack of previews! I want previews, dammit!
( I want a lil' bison! And Appa needs a hug! )
And, while I'm on Avatar, some random things that have crossed my mind:
Katara has bad luck when it comes to trees. She was tied to one. (Ep. 09) She's been knocked out by one. (Ep. 19) She's been pinned to one. (Ep. 28) And there might be more. ...She needs to stay away from wooded areas...
Zuko and Katara both suck at coming up with names for their partners in alias-ing. (Mushi? Dung/Dum/whatever name she gave to Toph?)
...And, yes, this was very random...

I Am Killing You
Oct. 8th, 2006 11:08 pmSo, I saw The Departed last night. 'Twas very, very good. **resists urge to go on a "Scorcesebetternotgetrobbedagaintthisyear" rant** It was definately more in line with his older, grittier films. And I liked that. I'd a friend who'd seen it and said Jack Nicholson dominated the screen, but I'm inclined to disagree. In my opinion, Leonardo DiCaprio owned the movie. I mean, Jack Nicholson is Jack Nicholson. He's always like that. You expect it. You accept it. It's good. But Leonardo DiCaprio was just sooo intense, it was amazing. I'm gonna say it. He deserves an Oscar nom and I will be pissed if he does not get it. I'm glad he's turned out to be the sort of actor he is. Matt Damon was, of course, brilliant as well. I was reading a Time Magazine interview thing with "Jack, Matt, Leo, and Marty" and it mentioned how he (Damon) doesn't really play bad guys that often, so I suppose it should have seemed odd to see him in an antagonistic role, but it wasn't. He just plays a dick so well. As does Alec Baldwin. Oh, and I really like Mark Wahlberg (and his character) in this movie.
Anyway, the execution and direction was beautiful and very well done. The plot worked. I remember really enjoying some of the mes en scene and camera angles, though now I really can't remember what they were and that makes me sad. Well, except for one thing, but that...and everything else I have to say about the film is a ( spoiler. )

Not exactly the most OMG-Awesome! episode ever, but not a bad way to start off the seaons...
( I guess I'm out of the book club... )

Ahh, fillers!
Sep. 29th, 2006 09:11 pmI always knew this ep. would be a filler, but I hoped it might do a little more to advance the plot. And I am disappointed the stories didn't get to connect in that loose "20 shorts about springfield" (or whatever) way where a fly buzzes around Toph and she waves it off and flies away to buzz around Zuko...
That said, 'twas all right.

lol. This image is cracking me up for some reason. I just find it hilarious. Not in a bad way. In a good way... but... lol
So everyone's cut their hair, eh? For some reason they all look younger to me than they did in the last movie with the exception of one or two of them. Okay, Fred and George look older and good LORD, OMGWTFBBQ! Look at Dean! He's freaking huge!
Otherwise, aww that that Nigel kid is there (though why they couldn't just make him a Creevy is beyond me...), Ginny's wearing pants, and Luna looks perfect!

Sep. 20th, 2006 12:31 pmMoral Objection #182043750238471-B7389294-VZX4:
Fudgums or Fudgey or whatever the hell that damn "browney"'s name is in those Dominos (or Pizza Hut?) commercials. He looks furry, fuzzy, like a stuffed animal--a brown cube of a stuffed animal. He DOES NOT look like a browney, warmed or otherwise. And the fact that people get brown-yuck all over themselves when they hug him is just disgusting. It doesn't make me want to eat a browney. It makes me want to go find a moist towelette.
I, for one, cannot and will not stand for it. The commercial needs to go! **raises pitchfork** Who's with me?
...Seriously, though, what the hell is up with that fuzzy cube?

Not so secret
Sep. 15th, 2006 09:15 pmOkay, having been way too spoiled for these eps (ironic, what with the title and all), I am not nearly as hyper as I usually am post new Avatar. That said, yay! Avatar is back!
Overall, I prefered the 2nd episode. The first felt a little too rushed, almost like they were trying to pack too much into it. And they were far and away from the awesomeness that was episodes 12 and 13 of season 1. Still good though. Random thoughts follow:

Sep. 14th, 2006 04:47 pmBig, huge, ginormous post of doom, which is probably still missing loads of things I meant to mention and will go back and add in at a later date.

Return to Life
Sep. 7th, 2006 02:44 pmSo one week and one day ago I recieved my copy of Xenosaga Episode III. I immediatley took measures to seclude myself (though I was thwarted by school and friends) from the world and enjoy the game. Today I beat it, and am now returning to life.
Bitter-sweet. That's all I can say. I have to digest everything before I'll be able to write a more comprehensive piece on my thoughts.
All I know is I want more. And there needs to be more. I mean, not just any future games where chaos and KOS-MOS are the only members of the gang still around, as was once promised, but more games from this timeline. I just...I just want more. Xeno is fandom # 1. And it's such an annoying fandom (the elitists; I can't stand those damn elitists; it's not Xenogears, get over it and move one and stop bitching; if you don't like the -Sagas, don't play them) that I don't know if it will be able to sustain itself without the promise of new things to come. Now all I've got left is Harry Potter, which will end soon and I'm not all that involved in (and by involved I mean actively lurk in), and Avatar, which I need to distance myself from so as to protect my shippy-heart. ...And, well, my thirty trillion million other TV shows I watch, but...
Gah...I need to go off and cry or something. There NEEDS to be more! **huggles Wilhelm**

Aug. 26th, 2006 01:28 pmAm overly stimulated. Was babysitting and saw Avatar promo highlighting a returning character. Managed to get me very pysched for the 15th.
Speaking of psyched, OMGZ 3 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!11one Got my strategy guide yesterday. I inwardly squee every time I look at it. I have been very good and avoided looking too far in, but it does have a very nice Xenopedia type thing at the begining of it, which I gobbled up and ate immediately. Although, a lot of it was kinda awkwardly/poorly written, and it has some typos and gramatical mistakes... (Seriously, what's up with that?) But that doesn't matter. It had info and of the background non-spoilery (with the exception of giving away the Testament's IDs) clarifying sort. For example, it cleared up the why Kevin is sometimes called Shion's fiance thing. (It had always confused me.) And Sakura's autistic? (WTF?) But eee! It's really almost here! I cannot wait! **dances**

Wow, I had not realized they were casting for the HDM yet.
Nicole Kidman. Mrs. Coulter. ... Not what I had in mind. And too "Hollywood." However, I know she's who Phillip Pullman said he'd pick, so I am forced to be okay with it. (My friend, however, is going to freak as she has an illogical hatred of Nicole Kidman.)
Daniel Craig. Lord Asriel. Again, not exactly what I had in mind. (Isn't he supposed to be dark, Asriel? I mean, I guess he can die his hair, but even still.) He's better than Paul Bettany, though. I guess I'm okay with him in general, but it bothers me that James Bond is going to be in the movie. Y'know, it's a bit of a taint.
Eva Green as Serafina is good stuff. Now, she fits my image of the character.
It'll be fun once we actually start getting promo pictures. I do hope the movies turn out well, but I'll keep my hopes down. Though, I'll be happy, so long as they don't mess up the angels cause I could see them wanting to banish the fact they're gay to oblivion. But they were so sweet, and their relationship, so touching. And it was fairly subtely in the books. Ah, well, that's not until like the 3rd movie. No using worrying about it now.

( Prison Break Premier! )
Watched the show afterwards too. What's it called? Missing? Vanished? It seems like it might be okay. I like that the Senator seems like a nice guy. I was already suspicious of the son. (Something about his hair cut...) And, yeah, it intrigued me enough to make me watch next week. And it isn't like I've got anything else to watch, so... There you have it.
Seriously, though, I'm so happy TV is back, not that I really minded spending my summer with TCM, but I am way too much of a junkie. I needs it!
Also, ONE WEEK TIL XENOSAGA EPISODE III! HUZZAH!
